Labor Of Love Treats Farm Workers To A Shopping Spree

YUMA ARIZONA - A farm worker crew with JV Smith Companies, based in Yuma, Arizona, was treated to a surprise shopping spree at Fry's grocery store as part of a random act of kindness through the Labor of Love program.

Labor of Love coordinated the event by surprising the crew at their field with baskets full of football related goodies just days before the Super Bowl. Then, their farm bus "detoured" to a grocery store where they were greeted with cookies and waters by the store and received a $50 gift card from JV Smith Companies. Many of them chose to purchase items like toasters and other cooking appliances, others chose to purchase a cart full of groceries while others wanted to save it for their spouse.

The Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association started the Labor of Love program in Yuma, Arizona in the Fall of 2015 and has surprised thousands of workers with random acts of kindness and meals. The mission of the Labor of Love program is to thank farm workers for their service to the agriculture industry and share their talents, loyalty and incredible work ethic.

Vic Smith, CEO of JV Smith Companies, was pleased to provide his crew with this surprise. "Our people work tirelessly through the season and this is a great opportunity to continue to share our recognition and thanks to them." Matt McGuire, Farm Operations Manager for JV Smith Companies added, "The crew was smiling ear to ear and really just elated to have the recognition and know this came from the community who appreciates their efforts."

JV Smith Companies is a Yuma-based agricultural company that grows lettuce, broccoli, and other intensively farmed vegetable crops. For more information, visit JV Smith Companies website.
